David Cobb's revelation today that a whistleblower has stepped forward and exposed the Bush administration's plan to "fix" the recount shows the nerve and desperation of these goons. The strategy was elegant and sinister, and played upon the gullibility of precinct workers:
The plan to whitewash the Ohio recount (very difficult, because there is a paper trail):
- "Triad tech" shows up and under guise of "replacing a dead battery" erases the election night precinct machine count (which had Kerry doing well).
- Tech then hand inputs "reported number" (which had Bush doing well and was a complete fiction invented at the county central tabulator on election night under lockdown).
- "Triad tech" then instructs precinct personnel to post a surruptitious "cheat sheet" to match the upcoming hand recount to the phony number reported and certified by Blackwell.
